| Through our
love for the Labrador Retrievers and our experience with hunting
upland birds with these flushing dogs, we chose to expand our
kennel to include a pointing breed. After researching the
different breeds, we have chosen the English Setter.

Iron
Point's Major of Larke |
Major and his hunting buddies, Randy Weitzel and Pat
Crawford took first place in the pointing dog team
division at the Northeast Regional Chukar Challenge Hunting
Dog Championship on March 16, 2008. This event was held at
Warriors Mark Wingshooting Lodge at Ginter, Pa. This was
Randy and Pat's first time at handling a dog and competing
in a Chukar Challenge. Their handling and shooting ability
complimented Major's superior field work and pointing. They
scored 387 out of a possible 490 to capture the championship
in this division. The judge of this event complimented
Major's style and natural ability while working the fields
with two novice handlers. He said that Major is a
beautiful dog and flowed through the fields with such
purpose and ease. Major's sire is owned by pro-trainer Curt
Fry of Slamming Point Kennels of New Brighton, Pa. The dam
is owned by Daryl Pitzer of Iron Points Kennels of Fombell,
Pa.

This is Major. He is our
first English Setter. He has been a real pleasant addition
to our kennel. He is tri-colored. His sire has his AKC MH
title, NAVHDA Versatile Champion and AKC Field Trail
Placement. His dam has her AKC MH title too. He has a really
calm demeanor but yet springs to life when he knows he is
going hunting. He has a real love for children. Major
was in training with trainer, Curt Fry, of Slamming Point
Kennel, north of Pittsburgh Pa. He ran a NAVHDA Natural
Ability Test on June 3, 2006. He earned a "Prize 1" with a
score of 112. Many thanks to Curt for a job well done!
Major is now available for stud service. His OFA
finals are "good" on his hips and his elbows are normal.
He has had his eyes CERF.
