Pine Ridge Kennels is the original breeding and training facility of the three Labrador Retriever Kennels of Central Pennsylvania.  We are a state licensed kennel owned and operated by Jim and Sharon Houppert.  Our partner, Tracey Cox, is actively involved in the training and care of all the dogs.  We are located near Burnt Cabins, PA, just minutes from Exit 180 of the PA Turnpike (I-76). 

We have owned hunting retrievers for 25 years and have been involved in breeding and training since 1994.  Our program revolves around the belief that a quality lab should have the retrieving desire of it's ancestors, that made the breed what it is today, as well as the trainability and temperament of a great companion and pet.  We will only breed dogs that display all desirable traits, conform to the Labrador Retriever breed standard, and have OFA/PennHip Certified hips and elbows as well as CERF registered eyes.

All of our litters are raised in our home where they are closely monitored and socialized.  Pups have dewclaws removed by a veterinarian at their first wellness exam, and they get regular worming and first vaccinations.  We believe in lots of socialization with people and other animals, as well as head-start training.  A written guarantee covering general health and inherited defects is provided with each pup.  Pups come with AKC registration and are also eligible for UKC registration.

We have comprehensive basic obedience and gun dog training programs.  If you feel you don't have the knowledge or time to adequately train your dog as a family pet, hunting companion or both, we are happy to design a program for you.  We also train and handle for AKC and UKC field events. 

In addition to labs, we also have some other sporting breeds at our kennel (English Setter, German Shorthair Pointer, Weimariner).  We also train these other breeds for the field.
